Kagoshima Organic Genmaicha is a blend of organic green tea leaves from Kagoshima and roasted organic rice. The tea offers a fresh, vegetal taste from the green tea, while the roasted rice adds a pleasant nutty and naturally sweet flavor (some say that it is similar to the sweet taste of popcorn). Naturally low in caffeine, this tea is soothing and gentle, making it an ideal choice for any time of the day.

Genmaicha has its roots in early Showa-era Japan, where it was first created by blending roasted rice with lower-grade tea to enhance its flavor and reduce waste. Over time, this tea gained popularity, and the roasted rice became the defining characteristic of genmaicha.

Brewing Instructions

Hot Brew:

1. Use 4-5g of tea per person (about 1 teaspoon) for 240ml of hot water (around 100°C).
2. Pour hot water into the teapot, cover, and steep for 30 seconds.
3. Pour evenly into cups, making sure to extract every last drop for a well-balanced brew.

For the second infusion, since the tea releases fewer components, steep for 45-60 seconds. This second infusion will be a bit lighter than the first but still flavorful.

Cold Brew:

1. Use 10g of genmaicha leaves.
2. Add 500ml of cold water.
3. Steep in the fridge for 4–6 hours.
4. Strain and enjoy.

Consume within 24–48 hours for the best flavor and freshness.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from odors and light.
