Crafted 120 years ago in Ishikawa Prefecture, Bowcha (棒茶) is a roasted stem tea that originated as a way to reduce waste, turning unused tea stems into a rich, tasteful brew. This special edition incorporates organic yuzu peel, adding a bright, citrusy twist to Bowcha’s signature toasty profile.

Brewing Instructions

Hot Brew:

  1. Use 3–4g of tea per person for 150ml of hot water (90–95°C).
  2. Pour hot water into the teapot, cover, and steep for 90–120 seconds (shorter time for a lighter taste).
  3. Pour evenly into cups, making sure to extract every last drop for a well-balanced brew.

Bowcha can handle a second infusion, but the flavor will be lighter. Use the same tea leaves from the first brew. Pour slightly hotter water (around 95°C) over the leaves. Steep for 2–3 minutes to extract more sweetness and mild roasted notes.

Cold Brew:

  1. Use 7–8g of bowcha leaves.
  2. Add 150ml of hot water (90–95°C) for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add 150ml of ice cubes or cold water and stir until chilled.
  4. Strain and enjoy.

Consume within 24–48 hours for the best flavor and freshness.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, away from odors and light.
