About This Coffee

Rwanda Ituze is a single-origin espresso roast sourced from the Ituze Women’s Cooperative, a collective of 20 female farmers in the Kamonyi region. These women, who formed the cooperative in 2008, have built a thriving community around coffee production, overcoming challenges to improve their livelihoods and create opportunities for future generations.

The cooperative’s name, Ituze, means “calmness” in Kinyarwanda, reflecting their commitment to fostering stability and support among members. Through sustainable farming practices, they produce high-quality coffee while reinvesting in their community through education, healthcare, and additional small businesses.

This Red Bourbon variety is grown at an altitude of 1,600 meters, where the cool climate and fertile volcanic soil contribute to the coffee’s vibrant complexity. The beans are handpicked at peak ripeness, carefully sorted, and processed using the fully washed method. After fermentation, the coffee is washed with clean water and dried on raised beds, a meticulous process that enhances clarity and consistency in the cup.
